Spirits .

Un giorno prendendo un caffè al bar, ho sentito questo ritmo “pegajoso” (appiccicoso) e per pura curiosità mi sono girata a guardare lo schermo. Sono rimasta molto colpita da quello che ho visto!!! Spirits!

Alla TV c’era un tizio col cappello che cantava e insieme a lui altri ragazzi con vestiti bizzarri che cantavano e ballavano intorno a una bara … e dopo qualche secondo, un corteo funebre!!!  mi sembrava di aver visto un ragazzo con la faccia dipinta da “Calavera mexicana”  🙂 mi è venuta la pelle d’oca dall’emozione!

Mi sono presa nota del nome della canzone e del gruppo ed ho fatto subito una ricerca su google.

Spirits di The Strumbellas

Il video in questione è del singolo “Spirits” del gruppo musicale canadese “The Strumbellas“ che appunto ha permesso il gruppo di ottenere la popolarità su scala internazionale nel 2016. Il singolo è arrivato in Italia qualche mese  fa e ormai è tra i primi nella classifica rock in Italia e negli Stati Uniti. * (secondo sorrisi e canzoni tv)

Già dalle prime scene  si intravede il ragazzo travestito da teschio….

e nelle scene seguenti si vedono ancora più dettagli del suo travestimento…..

Da quel che ho letto, cosi come la copertina dell’album HOPE, per il singolo Spirits,  la Band ha voluto richiamare la scena del corteo funebre per il fatto di aver superato tanti momenti difficili nel loro percorso artistico e poi vedere la luce in fondo al tunnel e sentirsi vivi. Come dice uno dei musicisti, «Abbiamo conservato l’oscurità e la tristezza dei precedenti lavori ma con una un po’ di speranza in più. E così siamo arrivati alla cover: una marcia funebre con tanti personaggi pittoreschi, è un bell’insieme»*.

Nella traduzione in italiano si perde un po il senso delle frasi; ad esempio “I got guns in my head and they won’t go” al mio avviso “guns” sta per “idee esplosive” e non tanto per “pistole“….
